Memory and Cognitive Problems: Psychiatric Assessment

Problems with memory, attention or thinking can have many causes, including depression, anxiety, medicine side effects, substance use, physical illness or dementia. Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Zafar assesses the history of the changes, usually with input from a family member, along with mood, behaviour and daily functioning. The assessment may suggest blood tests, brain imaging or a neurology opinion to look for treatable causes. Care focuses on the cause, on managing distressing symptoms, and on supporting the person and their family.

How consultations work

Consultations with Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Zafar take place in person in Lahore or through a secure video call when clinically appropriate. The first appointment is a full assessment and is longer than a follow-up. Please bring a list of your current medicines and any previous reports.
